Hardwood slabs are literally thick cut cross-sections of a tree. With careful handling and cold-weather harvesting, the bark is maintained along the edges of the slab throughout the sawing, drying and shipping processes.

Slabs make a powerful design statement because they remain in such a raw state—the varying grain patterns and rough bark immediately connect whatever the slab is used for to the tree that was. Each slab is uniquely beautiful and brings warmth and class to any space.

These pieces make incredible accents over doorways, serve as unique mantles, make wonderful table tops, counter tops and more. We offer customers a choice of having one or both long sides of a slab straight-edged. This enables a design to utilize the live edge and distinct tree form offered by hardwood slabs while being capable of flush installation against a wall.

Standard hardwood slabs are cut between 2 and 3 inches thick. Once kiln-dried to an internal moisture content between 6 and 8%, the slabs are planed on both sides, stickered and stored in a climate controlled environment until they are purchased and/or shipped to our customers.

We routinely cut and dry hardwood slabs out of White Oak, Red Oak, Maple, Cherry, Osage Orange and Walnut. Each slab is unique and reflects the tree it was produced from, making hardwood slabs an excellent way to add character and visual interest to any home or office design project.
